Danny - Adopt me!
Danny was recently found tied to a tree with a rope and chain, the hallmark of being abandoned by the Portuguese gypsies around the Lagoa area in the Algarve.
Danny has an underbite, which the vet has said is not causing him any pain or issues and has said he does not need any treatment. He has meet lots of other dogs and people and is very friendly to them all. We are hoping to get him cat tested before he arrives in the UK.
He is around 1 to 1.5 years of age and is in good health.
He could be an only dog or live with another dog. He is neutered.
We like all our adopters to be close, within 30mins of GU52 8LA.
Size: Small just under 6kgs
Date of Birth: 1 to 1.5yrs
Adopters should live within 30mins drive of Fleet as we like all our adoptions to be local.
COVID- 19 - Until further notice adopters need to live within 30mins of GU52.
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN UNDER 10 - The shelters in Portugal are also in lockdown and this prevents people visiting the shelter. Until children are able to meet the puppies and our fosterers assess their reactions, we will not be adopting to families with children under the age of 10 until things return to normal.
How we import the dogs
As a registered Charity all our dogs are imported legally under the Balai Directive, which require the dogs to be fully vaccinated and have a microchip, rabies vaccine, veterinary health check 48hours before dispatch and an Intra-Trade Animal Health Certificate (ITAHC) completed by an Official Veterinarian. The dogs also come from registered or approved premises.
We also go above the statutory minimum and carry out a blood analysis to screen for Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Lyme disease & Heartworm. We also test for Leishmania.
Finally, the ‘Happy Buses’ we use, are fully approved commercial operators traveling either under a DEFRA Type 2 Licence for transporting live animals for journey times in excess of 8 hours or the equivalent type licence issued by the Portuguese DGAV.
