Libby - Adopted

Libby arrived in the UK in mid December and we knew before she came that she was shy like her mum.

She is one of a litter of eight puppies and she was always the shyest of the litter. Her siblings have all been adopted, but she needed more time to adjust and start to build her confidence with humans.

None of her bothers and sisters are shy of humans like Libby and she is fine with other dogs, providing they aren't with a human, at which point she is too scared to say hello.

Libby has been neutered and currently in foster in Hook, Hampshire.

Libby was found with her Mum &  7 siblings at about 4 weeks old.

Sadly their Mum was starving & too weak to continue to look after them so our Portuguese team stepped in & took the pups back to their house to look after them & give their Mum the recovery time she needed to get stronger.

It didn't take mum long to gain her strength and after a few good meals she was feeding her pups who remained with her until the left of the UK.

Libby is good on a lead, doesn't pull and house trained and social with all the dogs she meets.

Her fear of humans means she doesn't like strangers approaching her and would run away if given space to do so. She has been in the same foster family since she arrived and has slowly built trust with the woman of the house and after 6 weeks is enjoying being on the sofa receiving affection. Libby is going to take many months to learn to trust her new family and will definitely need another calm, young and confident dog to help her progress.

We are looking for someone who has experience with shy dogs and is prepared to put in the time and patience it will take to build bridges with this lovely little girl. Any potential adopter would need to meet her several times before we would be prepared to finalise an adoption.

She will need a very secure garden, although she doesn't show signs of wanting to escape, she would if she was frightened and trying to evade capture. She will need to be kept on lead for may be over a year before you could consider her to be allowed off. Even in a secure field she couldn't be caught if she didn't trust someone.

She comes fully vaccinated, wormed Flea & tick treated and with her own passport.
